USDT is a cryptocurrency stablecoin also called Tether. It is an asset-backed crypto stablecoin that is pegged to the U.S. dollar at a ratio of 1:1. Basically, it means that 1 dollar is the same as 1 USDT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is different from other cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and so on because while these other cryptocurrencies can experience significant fluctuations in their prices, the USDT cannot since it is designed to maintain a stable value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, it was announced that Telegram users can start making USDT payments to each other through the encrypted messaging service\u2019s linked blockchain i.e. The Open Network (TON)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have no idea what TON is, don\u2019t worry we\u2019ll get to it in a sec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Telegram\u2019s team started exploring blockchain solutions for themselves, they tried to find a Layer 1 blockchain that is able to handle their user base which is a lot. They couldn\u2019t find any Layer 1 blockchain that could do that, and so they decided to design their own Layer 1 blockchain from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They built one, and called it TON, i.e. Telegram Open Network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TON was formerly known as Telegram Open Network, but is now known as The Open Network. It is a decentralized Layer 1 open network that now allows users to trade crypto, shop online, play games with NFTs, and make payments all on Telegram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of payments, you can also send digital dollars, i.e. USDT using TON. Digital dollars are based on USDT, which is the stablecoin backed by the US Dollar, and you can send and receive them on Telegram. Telegram says it\u2019s as simple as sending a message.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before you can start using TON in Telegram, you need a wallet. Think of it as a place to store and receive your USDT. This wallet also allows you to connect with other apps to trade crypto and perform other crypto-related transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To do this, you have to look for the Wallet bot<\/a> on Telegram. The wallet bot acts like a custodian wallet in Telegram, and allows you to send and receive $TON which is the native cryptocurrency of the blockchain, Tether ($USDT), and $BTC on Telegram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
